Hotel maravilhoso. Móveis clássicos e lindos que faz vc se sentir em casa, os funcionários extremamente amáveis e prestativos, as dependências maravilhosas, a vista incrível e a história das pessoas ilustres que ali passaram como Winston Churchill.

É um Hotel icónico. De qualidade superior e inigualável. De grande luxo. Um 5 estrelas. É o meu local de eleição para a passagem de fim de ano (que é a melhor do mundo). Tem uma vista soberba sobre a baía do Funchal. Grandes celebridades passaram por este luxuoso espaço na terra pioneira do Turismo Moderno (que já conta com 300 anos). O melhor hotel, para o melhor reveillon no melhor destino insular do mundo.

É muito cruel ser enganado e é exactamente isso que nos aconteceu nesse hotel. Fui guiado por muitos comentários positivos até aqui chegar e sabem o que mais? Está a correr muito mal! Não me deram o quarto que reservei e ainda assim tentaram disfarçar isso com um upgrade rebuscado. Colocaram-nos, a mim e a minha família no quarto mais distante do hotel que inclusive nos obriga a dois elevadores para aqui chegar. Agora imaginem o que é sair para jantar e regressar com as crianças a dormirem e ter de as carregar por mais de uma centena de metros até chegar ao quarto... Pedi para nós mudarem e o que descobri? Não tinham quartos, de acordo com o que reservamos e pagamos, disponíveis. Falei com um funcionário que claramente não está a altura e com um gerente e esse sim esforçado em encontrar uma solução que infelizmente não encontrou. Por isso continuo na parte mais ocidental deste hotel, ao nível da rua, que quando saio do carro dou de caro com carros, autocarros e pedestres e com um intenso cheiro a esgotos. Enfim, uma desperdício de dinheiro, e de tempo de férias que para mim estão estragadas e o que é pior, perca de qualidade no convívio com a minha família. Se vierem a Madeira, tentem o Les Suites Porto Bay, que foi onde estive antes de vir para aqui e para onde voltava a correr caso fosse possível. No entanto deixo uma ressalva a maioria dos funcionários que verdadeiramente se esforçam para que o hóspede tenha uma experiência de qualidade.

We had a wonderful week with our son, daughter in law and baby granddaughter . Just what we all needed a relaxing week. We were so well looked after and the hotel is beautiful with gardens to wander in and amazing views from the pool side. Extremely comfortable rooms with everything you need. The staff could not be more helpful.

I finally made it here for afternoon tea on my second visit. Highly recommend booking in advance which is very easy via their website. It also makes it easy to inform them of any food allergies. I would have given this experience 5 stars had they had a better welcome system. When you arrive at the hotel you’re asked to take a seat in a lounge where someone comes to check you in then seats you at your table. We arrived bright and early, maybe the third group, yet because the woman doing the checking in chose to ignore us, we were pretty much the last to be seated. Had I not called her over, I guess we’d still be sat there waiting. Edit to add after thinking about this further: I don’t know why she ignored us but none of the reasons I can think of are good ones. Did she think we didn’t look like any of the names on her list? Did she assume we hadn’t booked? Does she just unconsciously / consciously not acknowledge people of colour? Because she definitely saw us and chose not to engage. Anyway, the rest of the team and service thankfully was great and made us forget the poor welcome (for the time being). The food is simple but good and the tea is tasty, of which they are very generous. The views are stunning even on a cloudy day and you’re able to take a walk in the gardens (they have 8acres of land) if you wish.

Beautiful location but resting on that just a bit.We were met by the doorman and asked to wait as reception was quite busy.No problem, except they forgot us until we asked 30 minutes later.The room had amazing views but lacked in several areas.The robes were worn and ratty, missing loops and generally in poor condition.The shower water temperature was like warm.When we booked a taxi to the airport the night before we left, they forgot about it.The location is stunning, the seaside lounge chairs were great and the food was delicious, would like to give full five stars but for these small details.

Beautiful location and exceptional service and wonderful drinks/food options. To secure a dinner booking in the restaurant you have to reserve quite far in advance.You can however have drinks and light bites on the hotel balcony without a reservation. The balcony has breathtaking views in the evening and the live pianist added to the ambience of our time there.

I am here for 1 week with my husband for our 20th wedding anniversary and it is absolutely beautiful. The location is stunning, our room is beautiful, the gardens and pool terraces are amazing. As for the people, all I can say is lovely lovely people who go out of their way to make you feel welcome and ensure you have a wonderful relaxing stay. The food is very very nice and so tasty. They really care about presentation and really want you to enjoy the food. You can tell the people here feel really proud about their hotel and the service they provide for you. As is stated, this hotel truly is Legendary.

Thank you so much for making our afternoon tea experience so special . This was our second time myself and my husband have had the pleasure of enjoying this fantastic service.We enjoyed a choice of specialteas . A variety of finger sandwiches and scones with cream and jam so fresh and delightful and beautiful little cakes . We sat overlooking the bay it was so relaxing .The staff looked after us they were so friendly. We could of sat there for ever we both really loved everything about this beautiful hotel . My new favorite hotel! The rooms and the grounds are beautiful, but the best part is how friendly everyone is. Also, the sea-level pool and the diving boards into the ocean are lots of fun. And of course the view over Madeira at night. Wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely be back soon. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful stay.

Beautiful hotel! We absolutely loved our 4-night stay. The setting is just gorgeous and the gardens are amazing. All staff were super friendly and courteous and delivered a great service. We stayed in a deluxe sea view room with a garden terrace situated in the original wing. The room was spacious and nicely decorated, the bed was very comfortable. The only minus point was the bathroom where the shower was relatively low and you needed to duck to get under it. The bathtub was on the narrow side too. Also, it would have been good if air conditioning had a bit more kick. Overall, a lovely room and we spent many hours sat on our terrace enjoying the views (and a bottle or two of wine); it felt quite secluded and very quiet which was superb. Breakfast was served on a beautiful pool terrace with a great variety of offerings available. Again, a great service during the breakfast. We also had a dinner at the Michelin-starred William restaurant. Well, the food was amazing and the service was impeccable, with epic views over the Funchal harbour. We had a great time and will come back in the future.

Espaço incrível, o cocktail estava magnificamente confeccionado, com uma apresentação de um requinte maravilhoso,preparada e servida pelo um jovem super atencioso (Joel) e célere na preparação da dita bebida, no entanto para um hotel de 5 estrelas é completamente inadmissível estar constantemente a ser perturbado pelos pombos e gaivotas. Estive mais tempo a afastar aves mencionadas anteriormente do que a desfrutar do meu cocktail. Enquanto esta situação persistir mantenho esta medíocre avaliação.

Excelente local, instalações perfeitas , estrutura e decoração primordial, restaurante é ótimo e excelente música ao vivo no final de semana. O Chá da tarde é imperdível!!! O jardim próprio é um verdadeiro jardim Botânico!! Espécies raras e muitas flores. Piscinas ótimas e vista deslumbrante!!!

Nos gusta mucho este histórico hotel situado en un acantilado con unas vistas excepcionales de la ciudad de Funchal y del Océano Atlantico. El personal es muy amable, el servicio perfecto y hemos disfrutado mucho las dos veces que hemos estado. Si podemos volveremos.
