“Sharing the view you will get to enjoy while here, nearly 3 hours and still sat in reception trying to check-in and get a room after a disaster of a room mix-up. If you do not arrive here during office hours (which is unlikely as they leave at mid-day on Saturday and check-in is 3pm) then management have zero desire to try and accommodate and help you out, we had 2 major issues:
1) We made an issue in our booking and somehow only selected 1 adult (my fault I accept it completely) on check-in we were told our only option was to pay an extra $180 a night, this was the opposite to what Barcelo said directly to us and also we could book a new room for less. We were told both alternative options were only possible if we spoke to reservations who wouldn't be back at the hotel for 2 days. The net result we ended up paying over $500 a night for our room.
2) When we got to our room it was 2 queens, we have reserved a premium king room, when we returned to reception we were told bed type can't be guaranteed and this was our only option. Something I would have expected to be made aware of before spending $500 a night on a room. No resolution was offered and we had already paid the extra so were stuck in a dated small room.
3) The following day we spoke to a new manager and got a new king bed room assigned, however they kept cutting the power to it. We lost power to the room 3 times, we were told it was an issue with the reservation and system. The worse occurrence of this was for 4 hours with no fan or AC in the morning before we could get hold of reception to get it turned back on.
While one of these issues was of our making the hotel showed no signs of customer care or focus, this was present across reception staff, managers and kitchen staff. The one stand out member was the premium barman Ivan who was always smiling and happy to help.
I would strongly encourage you to look at other options, we can have stayed at Dreams for far less, but many more comparable properties for the same price.”
